I am a fitness junkie, a sneaker connoisseur, a lover of anything pink, a daily you tube user, and a certified personal trainer and group x instructor. It is my mission to show each client, gym member and class participant just what their bodies can do. My fitness philosophy is focused around "What can your body do?", changing the focus from what we look like to how our bodies perform and function. The Fitness with a Purpose Newsletter and Blog is a place where you can find tips, tools, and tactics on how to make fitness a lifestyle and maximize each workout and meal to enable you to become as fit and healthy as possible. This is also a place where I share my personal experiences with my own fitness and quest to see just what my body can do when I set a goal and do what ever is possible to achieve that goal. Consistent action produces consistent results!

Monday Morning

When the alarm went off I was trying to figure out in my head, in my sleep, what the annoying beeping noise was. Now that's deep sleep! It's Monday, and that's a good thing! I like Mondays. I have athletic and fun clients to begin the week, and I get to teach an abs class that is beginning to have followers. Funny, I have more consistent male class participants than females. I think it's because woman don't exactly mind doing abs on their own because they have a vision of how they want their stomachs to look. Most of the males in my class are not struggling with their waist line, they just struggle with their flexibility.
The theme of the week: Making Fitness a Lifestyle. This is where most of my clients stand at a cross road. Each though are improving in this area incrementally. "Incremental changes create monumental movements." That has to be one of the best quotes I have ever come across. So that can be the supporting theme of the week.
This week, along with my clients, I am going to use my fitness and my work outs to support the other elements of my life. Though not my most favorite, I am considering having to walk on the treadmill and run through the endless amount of note cards that I have accumulating in my back pack. It seems like that will be a beneficial method to getting cardio in while studying for my test. Believe me, I would rather run, but I don't think I could study and run at the same time. At least not lately.
Also, my work outs will have to be about releasing the pressure and not necessarily muscle growth and body change. This is hard for me, not to just push it in every workout and every run. However, one thing about fitness and exercise is that you have to learn how to have it support your week and not fatigue you for the remaining of the week. Though I have been working out for years, this is still an area that needs my close attention. I tend to push so hard in all elements of my life, that by Friday my energy has deteriorated and I can barely speak to my clients.
So this week I will become a master of creating a support system. Main goals this week are as follow:
  • Study for NASM Certification Test
  • 2 new client sign ups
  • 2 ten packs
  • 3 business card contacts
  • 3 workouts
Mondays are just not a day where one is annoyed by the alarm going off signifying that the weekend is unfortunately over. Mondays create momentum. Establishing my weekly goals and plan of action are an important element to progression. This keeps me moving forward, on the right track for the week, keeping the eye on the prize. So when the week does unfold in every way possible that I did not imagine, I can go right back to the basics, the weekly goals, and plan a detour to get back on track.

What are your weekly goals?
