This week was a great week for training. Each of you are improving in so many different ways. Whether it's starting to see the scale budge, or a body fat percentage change, or a strength improvement, there has been some great progress this week. Also, there has been a true "inside outside" trend of change occurring as well.
We all know that it is an integrated process, therefore the mind and body are absolutely connected. I have witnessed some true progress pertaining to the internal aspect of training and exercise. It's not easy, is it? But if you stick with this, not only are you changing your body, but your thoughts and actions will follow as well. And this my friends will contribute to long lasting results, both physical and mental.
There is some great pressure in the air. Holiday season is approaching, times are changing with the newly elected president, and though gas prices are falling there still seems to be less in our bank accounts. All of this is stress. And not to mention that because of the ever present twisting and turning of life, this will affect our relationships, our jobs, and most importantly our selves.
I am witnessing the affect of stress in each of my clients and also myself. The knee is getting better but it's still a stressful hinder hanging over my head. My lips are now going through the blistering transformation caused by the skin cancer treatment. And because my diet has not been strict and I cannot run nor do cardio, my self-esteem and confidence has dropped just a bit. Yes, I admit it, yours truly has been feeling fat and blah! I admit this to you for I too have my struggles and days of feeling like just throwing in the towel, but I know that this is just part of the ebb and flow of life and that this too shall pass!
Each of you are experiencing at least one thing that may hang over your head or cause restless slumber in the evening, myself included. How do we control this and not let it completely take over our lives? Let's see, exercise!?!!!?!
Short and sweet, but that's the answer for me, and hopefully with our work together, it's the answer for you too right now. Exercise will help release the stress and make you feel good about yourself, even if your work is completely aggravating, or your significant other is not seeing it your way, or if you are just feeling "fat and ugly," or if you are dealing with several aches and pains. Exercise will help center you, balance you from the inside out. It is your time and your hour, to just be with yourself and some great music on the ipod, allowing fresh oxygen and blood to flow through your body and mind helping you feel healthy and fit. I know that for some of you it's not as enjoyable as it is for me, however I hope I am helping you see that it can be, for the health of your body is a major priority in your life and your internal happiness and peace depends on it.
For some, our time together is a stress within itself, meaning that it's another thing on your to do list that you are struggling to check off of the weekly list that has become longer than expected. For some, there has been thought of having to stop training. I completely understand this!!!!! Hey, sometimes I feel like I just don't have it to give, no offense to any one of you. This feeling in you and myself is normal. It's all part of the process, the struggle, the inside outside change. As our parents use to say, there will always be something that will try to change our direction in life, take us off the path we need to be on. It's up to us to know when to change directions and when to stay on the road we have been traveling on.
When this is happening, this is when it is important to remember our goals, our desires, and our dreams. This is the time to remember that without our health, we may not be able to continue moving forward in life. This is the time to reevaluate our priorities and our to dos and truly make exercise on the top of the list. This is the time to just take a breath and know that you are not alone, nor is this going to remain.
In each of you there is real progress taking place, even if you feel like you cannot feel it or see it. Ask me! I will tell you. In each of you there is this potential that is just waiting to come to the surface. Let it out! Be as great as each of you are! Let the struggles make you stronger! Rise above the challenges and use your strength. Each of you push yourselves very hard when you are with me. Apply that strength to the office and to school, use the strength to help you with your family and your relationships, and rely on that strength when you feel like you just cannot do it anymore. Life is just too short to succumb to the pressure. Release the pressure! Release the stress! Be what you are truly meant to be: Healthy, fit, and strong.
Have a great week!
