I am a fitness junkie, a sneaker connoisseur, a lover of anything pink, a daily you tube user, and a certified personal trainer and group x instructor. It is my mission to show each client, gym member and class participant just what their bodies can do. My fitness philosophy is focused around "What can your body do?", changing the focus from what we look like to how our bodies perform and function. The Fitness with a Purpose Newsletter and Blog is a place where you can find tips, tools, and tactics on how to make fitness a lifestyle and maximize each workout and meal to enable you to become as fit and healthy as possible. This is also a place where I share my personal experiences with my own fitness and quest to see just what my body can do when I set a goal and do what ever is possible to achieve that goal. Consistent action produces consistent results!

23 Things I have learned about clean eating

1. Prepping and preparing my meals for the week takes approximately 8 hours a week.
2. Having meals prepped and prepared for the day keeps me on track with my nutrition game plan.
3. At 2pm every day I do not want to eat anything that I have prepped and prepared.
4. Having my goal written down and taped to my locker, planner, gym bag, car steering wheel, and wallet helps eliminate the 2pm waiver of will power.
5. When I let my body get "hungry" I am more apt to make poor nutritional choices and eat cereal, high-fat muffins, and chocolate.
6. I consume approximately 30 egg whites in a week.
7. A healthy protein shake and protein bar will get me through a full morning of clients and fuels my body adequately for a workout.
8. Salsa can spice up any clean meal.
9. Night time snacking can ruin an entire day of clean eating.
10. Consuming protein, carbohydrates and healthy fat for every meal keeps the engine running.
11. I am hungry every 2 hours and 15 minutes.
12. Coffee has dehydrated my body and has actually made me more fatigued.
13. Though thought to be contrary, I am still a pleasant person without coffee.
14. Ezekiel sprouted corn tortillas are super delicious, low in calories, and help make homemade Mexican food tasty and healthy.
15. The George Foreman grill cooks chicken in less than 7 minutes, red meat in less than 5 minutes, and grills vegetables in less than 6 minutes.
16. Logging my daily calorie consumption in The Daily Plate keeps me honest, motivated, and humbled. Check out the true sugar, sodium, and carbohydrate content in your diet.
17. Birds Eye frozen vegetable packets are a life saver for a busy individual. 5 minutes and you have 2 servings of veggies.
18. A serving of almonds= 1 oz = 20-25 almonds= 165 calories = 14 grams of fat = 6g of protein
19. One cup of skim milk is a great mid-morning snack and provides 8g of protein
20. Eating clean and counting calories requires dedication, heart, patience, meticulous detail, and can definitely be overwhelming when you have a full time job and trying to nurture a relationship
21. When I do not eat clean I will feel guilty, lethargic, moody, self-conscious, and I live in a world of should have, would have, and could haves.
22. As I continue to eat clean and pay attention to what I put into my mouth, I am also learning that the food that I consume controls my moods, my energy levels, my self-esteem, and the fit of my very expensive jeans.
23. March 26!!!! - Knowing what I am working for makes clean eating all worth it. "What you cannot see, You cannot change."
