I am happy today!
Yesterday, now that was a different story. From the minute I crawled reluctantly out of bed to the coffee pot and suddenly realized that I had forgotten to pick up coffee at the store, the morning was just not starting off very well. A little thing like that, running out of coffee, set me off. Now, it was 4am, so Starbucks wasn't open, and the chill in the air made me even grumpier. I didn't want to get dressed and go to the store. I wanted my Bustelo Cuban Coffeee and I wanted it then and now!
From that one little moment, a small minute incidental moment, I decided to have a bad day. Yes, I decided! I could have laughed. I could have given myself a slap on the head and said, "too busy to even read the post it on the steering wheel reminding you to get coffee!" It could have been a funny story to tell my clients, for they know it's coffee that keeps my engine reving!
Last night, after twelve hours in the gym, after a long day of chosen misery, I replayed the tapes of the day as I always do. I started to shake my head. All I had to do was change that one thought and action at 4am in the morning. I should have laughed about how dependent I am on coffee. I could have put a warm sweatshirt on and took myself to Walgreens. I could have made tea!
I had a choice and chose to have a bad day.
Today I am happy. And yes, I do have coffee and the heat is on and I only have three clients. However, this is my thought:
Yesterday could have been my last day. I am not pessimistic, it is reality and possible. So on that thought, my last day could have been spent miserable over not having coffee! Complete silliness!
So, today I will choose to be happy, positive, and patient! That's how I choose to spend my day............
