This week, most of my client's personal struggles were similar:
1.Nutrition
2.Consistency
3.Disappointment with lack of results
Do you remember the fitness equation? I have redefined it to eliminate any questions about what will produce results with an exercise program.
1. GOAL SETTING: Establish short and long term goals - "What are you working for?"
*Without direction you will lose your drive, motivation, and ability to stay on track.
2. CONSISTENCY: There is a difference between maintenance and body change.
*Body Maintenance - 1-3 workouts a week
*Body Change - 3-5 workouts a week combining both cardiovascular and resistance training for 45-60 plus minutes
CHANGING THE APPEARANCE OF YOUR BODY IS A LIFELONG PROCESS THAT WILL REQUIRE CONSISTENT FOCUS AND CONSISTENT ACTION, INCORPORATING CLEAN EATING, ADEQUATE NUTRITION, AND CONSISTENT AND EFFECTIVE EXERCISE.
3. Nutriton: Without proper and adequate nutriton your exercise program is incomplete. Nutrition is the body's fuel source for performance and recovery. Your body depends on clean and sufficient fuel to reduce fat and gain strength. If this part of the equation is missing, your results will continuously frustrate and disappoint you.
4.Exercise: It takes two! Cardiovascular and Resistance training are the key components of a successful exercise program. Each workout needs purpose, intensity, and direction. Oxygen and blood flow are also key components to proper system functioning. MAKE YOUR WORKOUTS CHALLENGING, PURPOSEFUL, AND SWEATY IN ORDER TO BURN FAT, BUILD MUSCLE, AND PRODUCE YOUR DESIRED RESULTS.
5. Rest and Recovery: Just like nutrition, if you are not properly rested your body will not produce the results that you are working so hard for. It is fundamental and utterly important to allow your body to recover from exercise and the stresses we experience in our work and personal lives. Without sufficient rest and recovery, your body will not respond to your effort and your exercise program. THE BODY NEEDS ENERGY TO CHANGE.
Each of you have so much potential. In each of you there is an athlete, a fit and strong determined person who can do what ever they put there minds to. Do not get discouraged! Stay tough and determined to be successful at what you set out to achieve. We are so busy right now, oh how I do understand that. However, if we do not feel good about ourselves and take the time to work hard to feel and look the way we envision, then nothing else will reap true happiness. (Speaking from personal experience:)
See you in the gym.
