I am a fitness junkie, a sneaker connoisseur, a lover of anything pink, a daily you tube user, and a certified personal trainer and group x instructor. It is my mission to show each client, gym member and class participant just what their bodies can do. My fitness philosophy is focused around "What can your body do?", changing the focus from what we look like to how our bodies perform and function. The Fitness with a Purpose Newsletter and Blog is a place where you can find tips, tools, and tactics on how to make fitness a lifestyle and maximize each workout and meal to enable you to become as fit and healthy as possible. This is also a place where I share my personal experiences with my own fitness and quest to see just what my body can do when I set a goal and do what ever is possible to achieve that goal. Consistent action produces consistent results!

This week's Fitness Game Plan:

The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. It's spring my friends and it's time to get outside and enjoy Austin. Living in Austin we are blessed by fantastic weather. We are surrounded by Town Lake, The Green Belt, Hill Country, Barton Springs, Mt. Bonnell, and many more other wonderful places to explore. Exercise is not just an activity to be done in the gym, indoors, on a treadmill. Make the outdoors your play ground. Go for a run, a walk, a hike, a bike ride, and a swim. Breath fresh air. Let the wind blow through your hair. Stop and take a look at the wild flowers on the side of the road. Beat the boredom of exercise with outdoor training.

"Take it to the streets and find your strength." Whether you are walking or running or riding a bike Austin provides you with various ways of enjoying exercise and fitting it in your busy schedule. You do not need weights to strength train. Stairs, hills, benches, steps, ramps, and open grassy areas can provide you with an adequate area to perform lunges, squats, push ups, triceps dips, calisthenics, core moves, and stretches. Purchase a resistance band and take it with you on a run or a walk. I can help you with some exercises to perform with a band.

Taking fitness outdoors will help beat the boredom of exercise. Not only can you get a tan, (with sunblock of course), but you can also feel as if you are enjoying the beautiful weather of spring in Austin after being cooped up in an office all day long.

Personally, I spend too much time indoors. Living on a beach my entire life, lately I have been feeling the pressure of walls and a tight schedule. I had the fortunate opportunity to run with a client the other day and I have now been rejuvenated. It is our goal to be in shape, to live in good health and positive attitude. The gym is not the only place for this. Make Austin your play ground and enjoy making fitness a lifestyle.

Exercise goals this week:
*3-5 days of exercise - combine resistance and cardiovascular training

****Take at least 2 workouts outside this week - ******If you want to make our session an outdoor training let me know! I have bands and various other pieces of equipment that can be used outdoors. This will be good practice for my upcoming clinic. I would love to show you how to use the streets of Austin and Town Lake as your fitness playground.

*New Short term goal: May 15th - Bikini Bombshell - This will be the day that I, along with another client of mind, have decided to purchase a bikini. April 1st is so close and I am well on my way to feeling more fit than muscular. May 15th will be the day I decide on the best piece of material to flaunt my fit body in. Join me.

See you outdoors!
