Running with joy: Cougar 5k

I had fun today. I registered for the Cougar 5k last week to support a good cause and get a fast training run in for my triathlon training. I woke up this morning at ease, an unexpected feeling because usually before races I am nervous, anxious, and unsteady. Though I had a few butterflies in my tummy, I just wanted to finish, for I have been struggling with debilitating side stitches for two weeks.

I ran a personal best today, 24:18, and I even had to stop and walk for 20 seconds because I ran the first 2 miles in 16 minutes, 45 seconds faster than my race pace. I just needed to get my heart back into my chest. I took a big deep breath and then began running again through heat, men lied out in the road, and a wind that was playing tricks on me.

I had so much fun and I am so happy that all of my training for triathlon is paying off. I am conditioned, in great shape, and my mind is beginning to truly settle!

To running with joy.............
